Maritime Solutions Trusts Venture Trailers to Keep Their Customers Moving
When you’ve been in the marine business for more than 30 years, you learn a thing or two about what matters. For Richard Cromwell of Maritime Solutions in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, success has always come down to one thing: reliability. “We’re not located right on the water, so we sell boats that need to go up and down the road,” Richard explains. “That means the trailer is just as important as the boat itself.” Which is why Venture Trailers has been part of Maritime Solutions’ operation for many years, especially when it comes to their larger trailer needs.
“We’ve sold a fair number of Venture trailers over the years,” Richard says. “They’ve been very reliable. It’s a respected name. People know it’s not something slapped together in a backyard. And if there’s ever a problem, which is rare, they stand behind it. That’s important.”
From Inflatables to Outboards and Everything in Between
Maritime Solutions serves a diverse and demanding customer base across Rhode Island, southern Massachusetts, and Connecticut. Known for their work with inflatables and all major outboard lines, the dealership is one of the few full-service operations in the region.
“If you’ve got a real problem with an engine, we’re one of the few go-tos to get it fixed,” Richard says. “We don’t just change oil. We do everything: service, storage, new boats, used boats. We even handle commercial fishing boats. Those guys rely on us to keep their engines running so they can make a living.”
That full-service commitment extends to trailers, too.
“We usually just package the trailer in with the boat from the start. It simplifies the process and avoids sticker shock down the line. If someone doesn’t need the trailer, we can drop the price, but it’s better to start with the full picture.”
Why Venture Stands Out
When asked what he values most about working with Venture, Richard doesn’t hesitate.
“Tara, our account manager, she’s great,” he says. “I shoot her a quick email, and she’s right on it. If she doesn’t have the answer, she goes and gets it. During COVID, when supply issues were everywhere, she’d say, ‘I can’t get you this, but I can get you that.’ That kind of responsiveness makes things smooth.”
Having a single point of contact makes a big difference, especially in an industry where things can get complicated quickly.
“I’ve got enough to manage every day, I don’t need problems with manufacturers,” Richard adds. “Venture doesn’t give me headaches.”
A Shared Philosophy
That down-to-earth, customer-first approach is something Richard prioritizes at Maritime Solutions and when choosing their partners.
“Like Venture, we’re customer-oriented. We understand they’re the ones who help us pay the bills. We stand behind our work, and we’ve built a solid reputation. We may not be the cheapest, but like Venture, we’re the most reliable.”
In a region with seasonal swings and a customer base ranging from second-home owners to commercial fishing crews, that kind of trust is everything.
“Boating’s not a necessity for most people, it’s a luxury. So the last thing they want is a headache,” Richard says. “They want to launch the boat, turn the key, and go. That’s what we’re here to make happen.”
