Why Diamond Marine ditched the middleman, partnered with Venture, and built a reputation around reliability.
It all started with a bottleneck.
Over 20 years ago, Diamond Marine, an established boat dealer in East Haven, Connecticut, was growing fast. But their trailer supplier wasn’t keeping up. Inventory was unreliable. Delivery times slipped. And customers were losing patience.
“We used to go through a trailer dealer that never had anything in stock,” says Mark Misbach, who’s been with Diamond Marine for 27 years. “They always overpromised and failed to deliver on time. It caused delays, customers couldn’t pick up their boats… some even canceled deals. We couldn’t let that keep happening.”
So Diamond Marine took matters into their own hands and decided to cut out the middleman.
That decision changed everything.
A Smarter Way to Sell Trailers
Instead of relying on someone else’s schedule, they started buying directly from Venture Trailers. It gave them control, consistency, and a major edge in customer service.
“We realized the same thing was happening to other trailer buyers too,” Mark says. “So we started advertising and selling trailers ourselves. People came from all over the country because we had them in stock and ready to go.”
What began as a fix to a supply problem quickly became a new revenue stream and a reputation builder.
Why Venture Made the Cut
Mark doesn’t mince words when it comes to what he values in a trailer partner.
“Good price, local vendor to cut down on delivery charge, quick turnaround, and great dealer support. All things that Venture excels in.”
But for him, the relationship is more than transactional.
“I like that over the years, we always had a knowledgeable, dedicated rep,” he says. “Venture always gives me the feeling that they really appreciate our business and are willing to go the extra mile for us.”
And there’s one person who stands out.
“I’d like to give a shout out to Dennis Johnston. Hope Venture never loses him. He is the best.”
Built to Serve, Not Just Sell
What makes Diamond Marine different? It’s not just the lot full of boats (or even the trailers).
“We’re a boat dealer that sells trailers,” Mark says. “Our knowledge of the right trailer for the boat is unsurpassed. We’ve got a lift that’ll set your boat on the trailer and get it set up properly.”
And that’s not all.
“We have most models in stock year-round on our four-acre lot,” he adds. “Twelve months out of the year.”
They even handle the paperwork.
“For Connecticut buyers, we do the registration process right here. No DMV. For out-of-state buyers, we give a 30-day temp tag so they can get home legally.”
When asked what he’s hoping to see next from Venture, Mark keeps it simple:
“Keep doing what you are doing.”
And how would he describe Venture to another dealer?
“Very consistent with their quality of trailers. They always answer my calls and emails. You wouldn’t find a better crew. I would highly recommend them.”
As for his rating?
“Five stars.”
