Behind the Trailer: A Day in the Life at Venture

When Tara Betz walked through Venture Trailers’ doors for the first time in 2007, she was just a 20-year-old community college graduate happy to be starting  her career. “I was just super excited to have an office job and start adulting,” she recalls. Eighteen years later, that excitement hasn’t faded—it’s only grown deeper, shaped by countless interactions with dealers, coworkers, and the extended Venture family.

As account manager for the Northeast and Canada, Tara’s days are filled with questions. One dealer might need guidance on boat fit specifications, another is exploring pricing options. A third has an urgent request that needs follow-up from the manufacturing team. Each call brings its own challenge, and that’s exactly what she loves about it.

“There’s something about having answers to questions that people are asking,” Tara says. “When I’m able to give them what they’re looking for, hearing their appreciation—that’s exciting. In a way, it makes me feel powerful.”

This passion for problem-solving defines Tara’s approach to dealer support. “I’m the dealer or the customers go-to-person for everything,” she explains. “Whether it’s pricing or questions about a boat fit or if they need to place an order, whatever they need, they come to me.”

Despite the sometimes chaotic days, Tara says that in 18 years, she’s never once woken up dreading the workday. “It’s kind of weird,” she admits. “We have fun with everything we do. We know when it’s time to focus and work, but we just have so much fun. I’ve never once said, ‘Man, I don’t feel like going to work today.’ Every day is just something different.”

She adds that this energy spills over to the dealer experience. When dealers reach out, they’re not just getting answers, they’re connecting with someone who really wants to help them succeed. “We’re all super positive on the phone, and the dealers can feel that.”

Tara says that owners Stephanie and Matt Van Slyke have created an environment where professional growth and personal connection go hand-in-hand. Many of Tara’s colleagues from her first days with the company are still there, creating a stability and depth of knowledge that dealers can rely on–not just for trailers, but for service and relationships that last.
