Once a Venture Dealer, Always a Venture Dealer

Why Goodhue Boat Company Keeps Coming Back to the Partner They Trust

When Dan Campano joined Goodhue Boat Company three years ago, one of his first calls was to Venture Trailers.

“Years ago, I was a broker at [another boat dealer], and I had a relationship with Venture,” Dan explains. “I still remembered the good relationship I had back then.” So when he connected with Venture sales rep Robert Schaer, it felt less like starting fresh and more like picking up where he left off. “I’ve ordered nothing but Venture for the past three years.”

A Dealership with Serious Reach

Goodhue Boat Company is no small operation. Founded in 1903, the company has grown to 12 locations across the country, with plans to reach 14 in the coming months and two to four more added each year after that. They represent some of the biggest names in boating, including Cobalt, Mastercraft, Malibu, Harris, Boston Whaler, and more.

With that kind of scale and growth, every supplier relationship has to deliver. And for Dan, Venture checks every box.

Quality You Don’t Have to Worry About

Ask Dan about Venture’s product quality, and he puts it simply: zero problems.

“In the years I’ve been in this business, I have not had a customer have a quality control problem with one of the trailers,” he says. “Never had a hub problem, never had a tongue problem, never had a trailer come off a hitch because of a defect.”

For a dealership moving serious volume across multiple locations, that track record matters, because when something goes wrong with a trailer, the customer doesn’t call Venture.

“You’re hauling around someone’s pride and joy. You want to make sure you’ve got good quality underneath it,” Dan says. “If a customer has a problem, their problem isn’t with Venture. The problem’s with me.”

He’s heard the horror stories from other brands — brand-new trailers with hubs spinning off, tires rolling down the road. With Venture, that’s simply not a concern.

A Relationship That Sets the Standard

What really separates Venture, according to Dan, is how the team operates behind the scenes.

“If I send in an email with a concern, a question, or needing a quote, it is immediately responded to,” he says. “I’m not waiting days for someone to get back to me and then having to make repeat phone calls.”

The ordering process itself is refreshingly simple. Dan provides the year, make, model, and whether the boat has a tower, and Robert handles the rest, matching the right trailer to the hull. From there, the order moves to the support team, and turnaround is typically about three weeks.

“Tara is good, Robert’s good — any problem or question I have, it just gets dealt with immediately,” Dan says. “You just become so accustomed to being treated so well.”

Dan recalls one moment that summed up the partnership perfectly. Goodhue operates on a COD basis with Venture, and on one occasion, a miscommunication meant the delivery driver couldn’t release a shipment without a check on hand.

“One phone call and it was resolved,” Dan says. “They said, ‘You’re a good customer, just send the check along.’ They could have been like others and said, ‘Sorry, the rule is no check, no product.’ But they didn’t want to put us in that situation.”

It’s a small story, but it speaks to something bigger: Venture treats its dealers like partners, not transactions.

Spreading the Word

Dan doesn’t just use Venture at his own location, he actively recommends them across Goodhue’s growing network of dealerships.
“Anytime I’ve been asked who I use for trailers, no question, I recommend Venture,” he says. “I know at least one or two of our other sites have jumped on board. Any chance I have, I will recommend Venture to any of our other dealers.”

For a company expanding as fast as Goodhue Boat, that kind of endorsement carries real weight.
“My phone’s always available if anybody has any questions or wants to hear about Venture,” Dan adds. “I’m more than happy to speak on their behalf.”
